Jared Crean

Aerodynamic Systems

I've always been interested in engineering, but its been quite a discovery process to find out which field I wanted to go in. After a summer internship with NASA working on developmental space instruments, I was sold. Since then I have been trying to absorb and learn everything possible about the space industry and will be going in a private corporation to send space instruments to deep space,

Ever since I was a kid, watching the Blue Angels every year at the Jones Beach Air Show, I was always fascinated by flying. After reading a book called Scream of Eagles, about the dogfighting in the skies over Vietnam, I knew that I would never be able to let go of my love of flight. Once I finally started learning about Aerospace in college, I distinctly remember reading a section of textbook entitled "Space Vehicle Trajectories - Some Basic Aspects" on May the Fourth while also watching the Star Wars marathon on TV and sipping a beer. The only thought going through my mind at the time was "it doesn't get better than this."

Looking to the future, I am very excited to start working closely with up-and-coming Navy air wing projects, realizing my boyhood dream of working out in the field next to jet fighters, helicopters, and everything else with a walkie-talkie (in the real world we call them radios) and a pocket knife on my belt.
